I remember the day I became a “Yes” Man. I was living in South America, I’d just moved there. I was 20 – scared, young, alone, and had no idea what I was doing. I was natural go-getter, my whole life I’d been described as an “extrovert”, an “outgoing” girl, someone who grabbed life by the horns. And yet there I was, crying into my Vegemite as I listened to A Day To Remember on my iPod Nano. There was no comfort zone to retreat back to. The WiFi wasn’t good enough to stream online TV Shows. Skype wasn’t good enough to call home. And the only “me time” I had in the house was the toilet.

Asking someone “why” they are single.

I’m at an age now where people stop being “I’s” and become “We’s”. And it’s hard to be one of the only remaining “I’s” in a world of “We’s”. It’s hard to be an “I”, when the other “I’s” are getting their mates to take photos of them at the gym to add to their Tinder profile along with captions like “Luv da boiz and lifting at da gym and not looking for anything serius (sic.)”

Well… at least we both love boys and the gym, I guess.

So at the moment, I’m currently looking for a job. Not even a job, but a career. Do you know how hard it is to go from being a carefree traveller with little responsibilities to having to make a life-changing decision on which direction your career is going to head? And not even just which industry do you want to work in, but which specialist role within that industry?

It’s tough. And consuming a lot of my writing time. So with no idea of when my next overseas trip is going to be, I’ve resorted to planning a mini-working-holiday to Tassie for the Falls Music and Arts Festival where I’ll be working hard pouring beers for the rich and famous, and also fulfilling my longing desire to travel by living vicariously through travel movies.
